Mountain Shadows Resort is a refined and opulent retreat from the hustle and bustle of the Phoenix metro. The resort is just a stones throw away from wines, dines and shopping, but still far enough away that you don’t have to deal with any crazy. You can read the history of the resort here. My husband and I were able to visit the Mountain Shadows Resort at the end of September and it was an absolute breath of fresh air.
Having two little kids, it is so rare these days for him and I to get a date, much less a night to ourselves at an amazing resort. This was something of dreams, because all I could think was that this place wasn’t real. Camelback mountain just to the south of the resort, the pools and the rooms were immaculate. When we opened the door, there was the cutest cookies and amazing juice sitting waiting for us with a cute card wishing us well.
There are so many amenities and things that you can do, all without leaving the resort. There is a green that you can enjoy a par-3, 18 hole round of golf, 2 pools and a hot tub, an impressive fitness center, as well as an amazing bar and restaurant with delicacies. So when are you booking your stay? Because if that doesn’t convince you, I’m not sure what will!
For this staycation with Jared we decided to be a little more laid back and stick around the resort other than for our dinner, which we decided to enjoy Babbo Italian Eatery. I’m not going to lie, we decided to chill in bed and binge watch (almost all 3) Indiana Jones movies, take a bath in the freaking a-w-e-s-o-m-e tub that sat in the corner of our room, and just hang by the pool. When I do a staycation, sometimes it doesn’t feel like a staycation at all because I’m so worried about getting so many pictures while there, as well as styling myself to a certain standard, it can be exhausting (the life of a blogger/photographer) and this staycation was so nice because we just relaxed and made it a true vacation. I still did my pictures (how could I not in the most amazing place?!!) but I didn’t stress it.
So as I mentioned, we went to dinner at Babbo Italian Eatery and in Scottsdale they have a cheese wheel pasta (if you haven’t heard about it, you can read about it here). Jared settled on a calzone that was no joke the size of his head and we both couldn’t finish our meals at all! So much food but so worth it! It was fun introducing Jared to Babbo.
We slept in a little (Like…. I was up at 7 lets be real) and my photographer got sick (it happens but wah!) so we decided to go to breakfast and just enjoy the morning. We enjoyed the resort’s restaurant, Hearth 61, and we almost wished we would have stayed in and tried their dinner because guys…. breakfast was amazing. I had the green chili pork and Jared had the eggs Benedict. I tried their Big Green Machine and it wasn’t my favorite, but as my 4 year old says, “you gotta try new food cause it might taste goooooooood” (If you’re a mom you totally sang it to Daniel Tiger didn’t you?) Regardless, it was one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had.
After breakfast, we just wanted to hang by the pool because it was a warm day, but not sweltering. It was a perfect 95, not too hot to where you couldn’t be outside and not too cold to where you couldn’t jump in the pool. I did jump in the pool and that was the last time I got in a pool this year because lets be real, swimming the last day of September is something of a feat is it not? Jared and I enjoyed a watermelon mojito and a mango Hemingway Daquiri by the pool, and had a light lunch before we left.
All in all, I will be back as soon as I can, and I hope you all can enjoy the beauty that is Mountain Shadow Resort!
